WEST MIFFLIN, PA — Five people took to the stage at Kennywood Friday to compete in a contest some would deem, well, gross: the Phantom's Worm Challenge.

A new addition to the park's popular Phantom Fall Fest, the contest involved rapidly devouring 10 live mealworms. Why would anyone do that, you ask? Because the winner received four 2024 gold season passes and an amusement park merchandise pack.

The courageous few slurped down 10 worms in record time with a photo finish, according to a park spokesperson. The winner's name was not immediately available, perhaps because the winner was embarrassed over their consumption of live invertebrates.
