A Downtown Pittsburgh staple for decades is on the market.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Wiener World, a Downtown Pittsburgh staple since 1965, is for sale.

The Smithfield Street restaurant is listed on the website of the Sofranko Advisory Group, a business that helps broker the sale of Western Pennsylvania restaurants and bars. The asking price is $265,000 including the Wiener World brand name or $150,000 without the name.

"Whether you're a busy professional on your lunch break, working hard through the day and need a break, a family seeking a quick and delightful meal, or a group of friends in search of a Pittsburgh iconic destination to eat sandwiches, salads, specialty hot dogs, fish, chicken. fries, or slushies - this remains the go-to destination for a memorable and satisfying dining experience in the heart of the city," the Sofranko listing states.

That the restaurant is for sale is not shocking.

Owner Denny Scott told WPXI-TV in April that he was considering closing or selling the restaurant, located at the time next to a homeless shelter at the Smithfield United Church of Christ next door. There were many complaints by business owners near the church about open drug use, aggressive panhandling and fighting in the area.
