Man Dies After Downtown Pittsburgh BB Gun Shooting

A man died Thursday, two days after the shooting occurred in an alley becoming known for its violent incidents.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man has died after being shot with a BB gun in a Downtown Pittsburgh alley.

On Nov. 29, police and EMS responded for an unconscious man found in Coffey Way, an alley between Sixth Avenue and Strawberry Way. The man was transported to the hospital for a suspected overdose.

At the hospital, medical tests revealed that the man had metal shrapnel in his body. He died in the hospital on Thursday, the same day police received video evidence of an the man being shot with a BB gun on Coffey Way.

All of the people in the video have been positively identified by police. Public safety officials on Friday did not say whether any arrests have been made, but said the investigation is active an ongoing.

The victim's name has not been released. The cause and manner of his death will be released by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

Coffey Way was the scene of gunfire Tuesday night. No one was reported injured, but police arrested Jasyean Randall, 18, near the scene of the incident; he faces a variety of gun-related and other charges.
