New Wine Bar To Open Near Kennywood, The Waterfront

An old church is being converted into an upscale lounge.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A century-old former church is being converted into a wine bar. Located in Rankin between Kennywood and the Waterfront, Mary’s Vine tentatively is scheduled to open in April.

Walter and Cheryl Stasinowsky last year purchased the old house of worship, which closed in 2011, for $50,000. They and several other family members have been renovating it since.

“Our vision is for Mary's Vine to be an upscale wine lounge that highlights the versatility of wine and appreciation for the different styles and techniques,” says a statement on the lounge’s fundraising page. “We will be building out a full kitchen to support the wine through pairings that enhance the taste of the wine and cuisine.“
