NFL Levies Huge Fine On Former Steelers Minority Owner

CHARLOTTE, NC — The NFL fined Carolina Panthers owner and former Steelers minority owner David Tepper $300,000 for what was deemed unacceptable conduct during the Panthers' 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

According to NFl.com, Tepper, in a video posted online, appeared to throw contents of a
drink into the visiting crowd. The incident occurred at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville after Panthers quarterback Bryce Young threw an interception.

"I am deeply passionate about this team and regret my behavior on Sunday," Tepper said in a statement. "I should have let NFL stadium security handle any issues that arose. I respect the NFL's code of conduct and accept the League's discipline for my behavior."

Tepper, 66, is a Pittsburgh native and billionaire hedge fund manager. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. In 2013, he donated $67 million to Carnegie Mellon, whose Tepper School of Business is named after him.
