No New Coronavirus Deaths In Allegheny County

Here are the latest coronavirus case statistics for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - For the first time in more than a month, Allegheny County went 24 hours without a coronavirus death on Saturday. The death toll in the county remained at 73 on Sunday, the county health department announced.

The number of confirmed or probable coronavirus cases in the county was 1,211 as of 11 a.m. Sunday. That's up from 1,198 on Saturday and 1,117 on Friday.

Two hundred and thirteen people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 211 on Saturday and 208 on Friday.

With 360 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 359 in Beaver County,, 168 in Butler County and 99 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 2,197. That's up from2,116 on Saturday and 2,059 on Friday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 146 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: Seventy-three in Allegheny County, 46 in Beaver County, 19 in Westmoreland County, six in Butler County and two in Washington County. That's up from 144 on Saturday and 142 on Friday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.

Gov. Tom Wolf has extended the stay-at-home order for all Pennsylvania counties until May 8, and has said the state will begin gradually reopening in May. Schools will remain closed through the end of the academic year.
