PITTSBURGH, PA —Discount shoe retailer Payless relaunched online Tuesday, 18 months after declaring bankruptcy and liquidating its 2,300 stores nationwide. Payless, formerly known as Payless ShoeSource, hopes to open as many as 500 stores nationwide over the next five years.\

It is unclear if any will be in Pittsburgh. The shoe store shuttered 15 stores regionally last year.

"We're back and bringing more community responsibility, fashion-forward footwear, and on-trend partnerships to our 60million-plus Payless customers who have missed us," compay CEO Jared Margolis said in a news release.
