Pirates, Bryan Reynolds Agree On Massive Contract Extension
Find out here how much the new contract is worth and how long it binds Reynolds to the Pirates.

PITTSBURGH, PA — After reaching an impasse in contract talks, the Pirates and star outfielder Bryan Reynolds have agreed to an eight-year, $106.75 million contract extension, according to multiple reports.
The pact is the largest in team history.
The deal contains no opt-out options for Reynolds, which had been holding up the extension. ESPN reported that the contract includes a limited no-trade clause and that the Pirates have an option for the 2031 season.

Frustrated by the lack of progress on a contract extension, Reynolds requested a trade during the offseason. Talks were more positive in spring training but then ground to a halt over the opt-out issue.

Reynolds, 28, was acquired from the Giants in a 2018 trade that sent Andrew McCutchen to San Francisco. An All-Star in 2021, Reynolds this season is hitting .294, leads the team with 18 RBIs and is tied for the club lead with five home runs.
