Pitt Prepares For Iowa State After Thrilling NCAA Tournament Win
The Panthers defeated Mississippi State Tuesday night in an NCAA Tournament First Four game.

DAYTON, OHIO — In a tension-packed game that saw multiple lead changes, Pitt hung on to defeat Mississippi State Tuesday in an NCAA Tournament First Four game.
The Panthers hung on for a 60-59 win after Mississippi State's Shakeel Moore missed a three-point shot and D.J. Jeffries failed to score on the rebound as time expired.
The 11th-seeded Panthers (23-11) posted their first NCAA Tournament win since 2014. They will play 6th-seeded Iowa State in a Midwest Regional first-round game Friday at 3 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.

The Panthers played Tuesday's game without starting center Federiko Federiko, who was out with a knee injury. Pitt head coach Jeff Capel said at a news conference after the victory that Federiko could be back for Friday's game.
"If we would have played later in the week, Thursday or Friday, maybe there was a chance he could have been ready for that," Capel said. "There's a chance he could be ready for Friday. We're
very, very hopeful."
