Pittsburgh Area To Be Pummeled With Heavy Rain
Pack the umbrella. Take the raincoat off of the closet hook. You're about to need both.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Hope you enjoyed this week's nice weather, because it's about to crash big-time.
Thursday will be pleasant enough. But the National Weather Service and other forecasters are forecasting as much as three inches of rain and colder temperatures moving in on Friday. State College-based AccuWeather is warning of possible flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. The Weather Channel is warning of potentially heavy rain Friday afternoon and evening.
The reason: Tropical Storm Nicole, expected to make landfall as a hurricane in Florida Wednesday night, will trek northward toward Southwestern Pennsylvania. Its remnants will be here on Friday.

Want worse news? You've got it.
The above-average temperatures the region has enjoyed since the start of the month are about to vanish. Once Nicole drenches us, expect high temperatures for the next week only in the low- to mid-40s.
