Pittsburgh-Area Cold Blast: How Long Will It Last?

The calendar says it's November. The temperatures will be more like January, weather forecasters agree.

PITTSBURGH, PA — With winter weather advisories in effect just east of the city Tuesday and long-range forecasts calling for continued cold temperatures, people can be forgiven for wondering what has made Mother Nature so frosty.

State College-based AccuWeather meteorologists warn the northern United States can expect wintry conditions in the coming week, with several rounds of snow possible for parts of the Great Lakes and Northeast.

The National Weather Service agrees. "The sudden change to winter temperatures will continue for the foreseeable future," forecasters stated on social media. "So much for the one of the top three warmest starts to November."
