Pittsburgh Area At Risk Of Severe Storms, Possible Tornadoes

The Pittsburgh area is expected to experience potentially severe weather on Wednesday. Find out here when the storms are expected to arrive.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Barely a week after storms rocked the region and left more than 90,000 people without electrical power, Western Pennsylvania again is at risk of severe weather on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, some of the storms could have a significant impact, with wind gusts of at least 75 mph, and hail at least two inches in diameter. There also is the risk of possible tornadoes.

Areas at risk of severe weather include the counties of Allegheny, Butler, Washington, Beaver, Armstrong, Greene and Westmoreland.

Storms are expected to develop after 3 p.m. Before that, expect increasing clouds and breezy conditions, with winds of around 20 mph.

Showers and storms, some of them severe, will continue this evening and early Thursday.

The weather is expected to be calmer tomorrow, with decreasing clouds and a high temperature of around 81.
