Pittsburgh Bans Crowds Of 50 Or More To Try To Slow Coronavirus

The prohibition is effective immediately.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Following guidelines announced Sunday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the city of Pittsburgh has banned all public gatherings of 50 or more people. The move is designed to help stop the spread of the coranavirus.

This prohibition supersedes Friday's ban that prohibits gatherings of 250 people or more.

The ban coincides with a recommendation by Allegheny County officials to have all nonessential businesses shut down for 14 days. That recommendation remains voluntary for now.
