Pittsburgh Family Dollar Store Hit With Consumer Alert
It's the second alert issued for the store since the beginning of March.

PITTSBURGH, PA - For the second time in little more than a month, the Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Family Dollar store on Chartiers Avenue in Elliott because of a rodent infestation.
Inspectors on Thursday found:
- Two freshly dead mice in traps under paper towel and pet food shelves.
- One bag of Combos found with large hole chewed into side.
- Rodent droppings and rodent urine present on candy and chips
- Three bags of cat and dog food with large holes chewed in them, one approximately five feet from ground on shelf.
- Fresh droppings, too many to count, on and under pet food shelves, chip shelves, candy shelves, and paper towel shelves.
- Fresh urine puddles found on dog food shelves, which was transferred to inspector's hand while checking bags.
- Framed cardboard wall art chewed apart and used for nesting material.
- Droppings, urine, and chewed debris from food packaging found in employee lockers in break room.
The store remains open while the rodent problem is being addressed.
