Pittsburgh Goodwill Stores Launch Desperate Appeal For Donations
Western Pennsylvania Goodwill stores are running low on donated clothing and housewares.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is making what it terms "an urgent appeal" for people to donate gently used clothing, shoes and housewares. Without such donations, the organization won't be able to provide quality items for those shopping at Goodwill thrift stores.
l“There’s always a slow down in donations during the winter months,” Robert Stape, Goodwill SWPA’s interim president and CEO, said in a news release. “That’s why we are making this special appeal to the public at this time.”
Clothing and household items represent more than half of the human service agency's operating revenues, which help to provide job training and education programs.

“Goodwill stores are important to the community in two ways,” Stape said. “Many of our customers are on very tight budgets and they rely on the stores’ low prices for their families’ needs. Also, revenue from the stores helps to sustain the programs Goodwill provides for people with employment barriers. Donations literally help people get jobs.”
