Pittsburgh Market Hit With Consumer Alert

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Adan Market 2 on East Warrington Avenue in Allentown, for numerous health code violations.

An inspection on Wednesday found too many to count rodent droppings on wooden shelves in the rear of the store and along the perimeter of the walls in the hallway behind the service counter.

Three dead and decomposing mice were observed on a glue trap on the shelves in the rear of the store. One dead mouse was found under the bottom shelf in the Rice Krispies section.

One bag of chips was found with chew holes in it. Additionally, Three Musketeeers candy bars were found stored in a box with rodent droppings in it.

Oreos observed stored in a box with rodent urine on the box.
Intact packages of candy were observed stored in a box with shredded candy packaging, providing evidence of rodent adulteration.

An establishment with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.

If the problems are not corrected within that 10-day window, the business could be ordered to close.
