'Pittsburgh' Maulers To Call Ohio Home This Season

For the second season in a row, a so-called Pittsburgh sports team won't be playing its games in Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH, PA — At least the Pittsburgh Maulers are getting closer to home. The USFL team played its games in Birmingham last year, but the league announced Wednesday that the Maulers and New Jersey Generals will play in Canton, Ohio this year.

Canton also will be the site of the league's North Division playoff game in late June and the USFL championship game in July.

"The USFL is excited that the Pittsburgh Maulers and the New Jersey Generals will practice and play games in Canton during the 2023 regular season," Daryl Johnston, USFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations, said in a statement. "The outstanding regional support we received during our first postseason from football fans in Ohio and Pennsylvania, including
the great city of Pittsburgh, led to this moment."

The Maulers and Generals will face off in the season's opening game on April 23.
