Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto Seeking Third Term
Peduto has announced that he wants another four years at the city's helm.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has announced he will seek a third term in office. Because of the coronavirus outbreak, he made the announcement via a Facebook video.
Peduto first was elected mayor in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017. Prior to that he served on Pittsburgh city council from 2002 until being elected mayor. He also served as chief of staff to his predecessor on council, Dan Cohen.
Peduto first ran for mayor in 2005, but was defeated by Bob O'Connor in the Democratic primary. When O'Connor was elected mayor but died in office, Peduto ran in the 2007 election to succeed him but dropped out of the race before the primary.

Retired city police officer Tom Moreno is the only other declared candidate in the race thus far, but political observers have said they expect others to challenge Peduto.
