Pittsburgh Mayor Condemns Protester's Arrest In Unmarked Vehicle
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has blasted police treatment of a protester over the weekend.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Mayor Bill Peduto on Monday harshly criticized the arrest of a protester in Oakland Saturday by Pittsburgh police using an unmarked van.
"It is hard to find the words for how livid I was after seeing the online videos of the disturbing arrest at Saturday's protest," Peduto said in a release. "I have taken the time to review all the video and information hat has been made available to me. As mayor, I will never tolerate these tactics being used at peaceful protests again."
The arrest of Matthew Cartier, 25, prompted protesters to march through several neighborhoods Sunday. More than 200 people showed up outside Peduto's home. Cartier and others have called for Peduto's resignation.

According to police, Cartier blocked street intersections. He reportedly was told twice to stop
because of safety issues.
