Pittsburgh Music Legend To Christen New City Concert Venue

PITTSBURGH, PA — A surprise performer and his band will inaugurate Pittsburgh's newest concert venue, Citizens at the Wylie, which will open later this month.

Donnie Iris & The Cruisers will play a preview show called "Soundcheck on Wylie Avenue" on Sept. 28. Also on the bill: NASH.V.ILL, Byron Nash and TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party w/ J. Malls, Gordy G & Buscrates.

Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com for $10, with proceeds benefiting the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.

"Playing for Pittsburgh has always meant a lot to me. The fans here bring so much energy, and it's a thrill to be part of opening a brand-new venue," Iris said in a statement.

"To do it with the Cruisers and support the important work of the August Wilson Cultural Center makes the night even more special. We're ready to have a great time and bring some rock 'n' roll to the Hill."

The first official show at the 4,000-seat venue near PPG Paints Arena will be singer-songwriter Role Model on Oct. 1. Another Pittsburgh legend, Wiz Khalifa, will play there on Oct. 2.
