Pittsburgh Penguins Name New Team President

After a prolonged search, team owner Fenway Sports Group has hired a new president of hockey operations.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Penguins on Thursday announced the Kyle Dubas has been named the team's president of hockey operations. He replaces Brian Burke, who was fired in April along with General Manager Ron Hextall.

Dubas, 37, until recently the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, will oversee all aspects of hockey operations.

The two highest-ranking members of the Fenway Sports Group, principal owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner, issued the following joint statement on the hiring:

Dubas spent the previous nine seasons as a member of the Maple Leafs organization, including the last five as general manager. At the time of his hiring in 2018, Dubas became the second-youngest general manager in NHL history at age 32.
