Pittsburgh Pizzeria Slapped With Consumer Alert
An inspection found an "imminent public health hazard" at the popular pizza place.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Caprioni's Pizzeria on Murray Avenue in Greenfield. An inspection Friday unearthed an "imminent public health hazard," according to health department documents.
An inspection found that waste water from the basement has been tracked through the kitchen and other areas of the eatery. The health hazard referenced in the report concerns waste water pooling in the basement where pizza boxes and single-serve articles are stored, and egress through the waste water being required to reach the upright freezer.
"The waste water back-ups need to be permanently eliminated," the report stated. "If the wastewater issue cannot be resolved, then the basement cannot be occupied or used for any storage related to the business."

A dead mouse was found on the base covering behind a cooler and mouse droppings were observed at floor-wall junctures behind the coolers and behind the preparation table holding the slicer in the kitchen.
The pizzeria remains open while the alert is in place.
