Pittsburgh Plates: These New Restaurants To Debut This Fall

Here's a sneak preview of some new dining options expected to open around Pittsburgh before year's end.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Although the coronavirus outbreak has been brutal for the restaurant industry, that hasn't stopped plans advancing for a number of new eateries that are expected to open soon in and around Pittsburgh.

Here's a Patch look at some of the new bars and restaurants that are expected to open before the beginning of 2022:

  • Shorty's Pins X Pints, North Shore

Coming in October to the old Tilted Kilt space is a new local concept featuring classic cocktails, cold pints and tacos along with duckpin bowling, pinball and plenty of space for patrons to spread out.

  • G's on Liberty, Bloomfield

This long-awaited successor to the venerable Alexander's Italian Bistro, which shuttered last year amid the pandemic, expects to open by late September. The restaurant will feature a seasonal menu, craft cocktails, wine tasting events and a happy hour.

  • Bonafide Beer Company, Strip District

The old Chicken Latino on Penn Avenue has received quite the makeover and will open sometime this fall as a brewery and taproom, with an emphasis also on local whiskies and cocktails.

  • AVP, Bakery Square

The Big Burrito Restaurant Group (think Mad Mex, Casbah, Kaya, Eleven, Soba and Umi.) will bring its Alta Via pizzeria take on modern Italian cooking to what it has described as a casual and friendly environment.

  • Back Alley Brewing Company, Dormont

The former borough municipal building is being reincarnated into what most would contend is a far better use - a brewery. Sitting at the bar in this place undoubtedly will be much more rewarding than sitting through a borough council meeting.

  • Gordo's Tacos & Tequila, Mt. Washington

Seems as though this place has been in the works for eons. What would be another welcome addition to the Shiloh Street-Virginia Avenue bar and restaurant scene is supposed to finally open soon.

  • Mount Oliver Bodega, Mount Oliver, and Arlington Beverage Club, Allentown

Controversial Pittsburgh Chef Kevin Sousa has moved on from Superior Motors in Braddock to focus his energies on these two new projects in adjacent city neighborhoods. The bodega will focus on pizza and wine, while the beverage club has been said to greatly resemble its predecessor, the former St. George Lyceum.
