Pittsburgh Restaurant Reopens 6 Months After Truck Slams Into It
It took longer than expected, but this Pittsburgh destination once again is serving some of the city's finest meals.
PITTSBURGH, PA — An award-winning city restaurant is back in business six months after a stolen pickup truck crashed into it.
Altius, located on Grandview Avenue on Mt. Washington, reopened Monday.
“Everyone is excited to be back," Altius general manager Mick Doherty told WTAE-TV. "Everybody has anticipated this day......It's been a long six months."

The pickup truck smashed into the restaurant on May 24, damaging the interior and the exterior. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Rated four diamond by AAA, Altius is next to the Duquesne Incline, a must-stop for tourists. The eight-year-old restaurant is on the site of the former Georgetowne Inn.
Altius has won numerous awards from online restaurant reservation provider OpenTable, being named on of the nation's 100 best wine restaurants in 2018; one of the nation's most romantic restaurants in 2020 and 2022 and one of the nation's most scenic restaurants in 2018 and 2019.
Last year, Altius' wine selection won an award from Wine Spectator magazine.
