Pittsburgh Restaurant Slammed With Consumer Alert
The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for a popular Pittsburgh eatery.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the I Tea Cafe on Bellefonte Street in Shadyside.
A health department inspection found rodent droppings on shelves that store clean cutting boards, sauces and other food items in the prep area.
Also, a large bag of rice was found with rodent chew holes present, as well as chew marks on a can of water chestnuts and bottles of soup base.

Nesting material and droppings were found under the shelving in the prep area. Old droppings were observed on top of the dish machine.
Additionally, numerous pots and pans used to store raw meats had old food residue and debris on the outside of the pans. The food surfaces of the bubble tea equipment was found to be soiled.

Evidence of prior sewage backups were observed in the eatery's basement.
The restaurant remains open while the consumer alert is in place.
