Pittsburgh Snow: Latest Storm Timing, Accumulation Predictions

Winter's first significant snow is expected to hit Pittsburgh and southwestern PA on Thursday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Keep the shovels and ice melt handy, southwestern Pennsylvania. Winter's first significant snowfall is on its way.

The National Weather Service is predicting one to two inches of snow in Pittsburgh tonight, with three to four inches expected in the easternmost and southernmost portions of Allegheny County. Four to six inches are likely east and south of the city.

The snow is expected to begin around 6 p.m. Thursday and taper off around 1 a.m.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for Westmoreland, Greene and Fayette counties. Advisories could be extended to include additional counties, according to the weather service.

Expect isolated snow showers on Friday, but no additional accumulation. The high temperature will be 26.
