Pittsburgh Uber Driver Killing: Accused Man's Trial Begins

Calvin Crew is on trial for allegedly killing Christina Spicuzza after she picked him up for an Uber ride.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The trial of a man accused of shooting and killing an Uber driver three years ago began Monday in the Allegheny County Courthouse.

Opening statements and initial testimony were heard in the trial of Calvin Crew, 25, who allegedly shot Christina Spicuzza to death in February 2022. Spicuzza, 38, of Turtle Creek, was a mother of four. She was shot in the head while being robbed.

Dash camera video from Spicuzza's vehicle that later was recovered by police showed that she had begged for her life before bring killed. A man in a dark hoodie with a mask on, identified by police as Crew, held a gun to her head while she pleaded with him not to harm her.

Police said Crew's girlfriend ordered the Uber for him and that her gun was missing.
