Pittsburgh Variety Store Slapped With Consumer Alert
The store remains open despite the problems an inspection turned up.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Family Dollar store at 1211 Chartiers Avenue in the city's West End because of a rodent infestation.
Inspectors on Thursday found:
- Too many rodent droppings to count throughout the facility in soda crates, in the chip aisle, in the charcoal and picnic supplies, and soda aisle.
- Gnawed packaging, droppings, and suspected mouse urine stains as high as top shelf in chip aisle and cat food aisle.
- Gnawed product and packaging found on many packages of food in chip aisle.
- One pack of vanilla sugar wafers found chewed completely through, with product eaten out of package.
- Chewed bread found on bottom bread shelf.
