Pittsburgh's Best Hotels: U.S. News & World Report

Looking for a place to be pampered? Here are the perfect local places.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Need a break from the day-to-day grind and just want to be treated like royalty for the night ? You're in luck. U.S. News & World Report has released its rankings of the best hotels across the country and in Pittsburgh.

The report looked at more than 24,000 luxury hotels to come up with the rankings. Hotels that received a gold badge were in the top 10 percent of ranked hotels. Hawaii’s Four Seasons Resort Lanai ranked first, followed by The Peninsula Chicago at No. 2 and The Langham, Chicago at No. 3.

If those don’t fit your fancy, don’t fret: There are plenty of great hotels locally. Here’s how U.S. News & World Report ranked them, with their state ranking listed parenthetically:

1. Fairmont Pittsburgh, Downtown (Pennsylvania ranking: 8)
Here’s what U.S. News & World Report had to say: “Recent visitors particularly applaud the spacious guest rooms, appointed with plush duvets, iPod docking stations, refreshment centers and flat-screen TVs. Guests also give major kudos to the uniquely Pittsburgh-esque exposed steel in the lobby – a nod to this city's main industry.”

2. Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Downtown (9)
Here’s what U.S. News & World Report had to say: “Flaunting the signature quirky Kimpton style, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh receives high marks for everything from the attentive staff and comfortable beds to the whimsical decor and convenient location.”

3. Omni William Penn, Downtown (12)
Here’s what U.S. News & World Report had to say: “Its elegant interior, decked with crystal chandeliers, a piano and wooden furnishings ooze luxury. The opulent decor extends to the guest rooms, which boast cherry wood furnishings, feather pillows, lavish bath amenities and flat-screen TVs.”

4. Renaissance Pittsburgh, Downtown (19)
Here’s what U.S. News & World Report had to say: “Guest rooms feature simple, yet elegant, furnishings and in-room amenities like flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations and complimentary Wi-Fi. However, the Renaissance's locale is by far the best selling point among recent guests. Visitors love that Heinz Field, PNC Park and many of the city's most celebrated theaters are all within walking distance.”

5. Westin Convention Center, Downtown (31)
Here’s what U.S. News & World Report had to say: “On the property grounds, you'll have access to two dining establishments, a fully equipped fitness center and 23 meeting rooms. Still, while the Westin's versatile selection of amenities and facilities wow recent visitors, what wins them over is the hotel's excellent service and convenient location.”
