Popular Downtown Pittsburgh Restaurant On The Market
After three decades of casual dining, this Downtown eatery is for sale.
PITTSBURGH, PA — For more than three decades, Salonika's Bar and Grill on Sixth Street, Downtown, has been packed with patrons sampling the Greek restaurant's excellent gyros, moussaka, pastitsio and other dishes. But how much longer the popular lunch spot will continue to serve its Greek fare is up in the air.
In a restaurant industry decimated by the coronavirus outbreak, Salonika's is for sale. Pittsburgh restaurant broker Specialty Group is marketing the eatery in the Downtown Cultural District less than a block from Heinz Hall.
Founded in 1986, the restaurant takes its name from the birthplace of its owner: the Greek city of Thessaloniki. Nestled on the northern coast of the Aegean Sea, Salonika is the second largest city in Greece. Recognized as the capital city of the region of Macedonia,, the city’s history includes King Phillip, Alexander the Great and architectural ruins of the Byzantine era.
