Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant Hit With Consumer Alert

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the EatUnique restaurant on South Craig Street in Oakland.

An inspector on Tuesday observed fresh rodent droppings on food contact surfaces that included but were not limited to prep tables, a table-top mixer, the rear of the grill, food packaging and an open box of parchment paper.

Fresh rodent droppings also were found on the floor throughout eatery, particularly near the rear entry. The restaurant was instructed to keep the door closed during operating hours.

A hole was discovered on the base covering near the kitchen hand sink.

No date marking was found on the restaurant's prepared rice and the person in charge said they did not know when it was prepared.

Mayonnaise with a use by date of May 9 was found in a refrigerator. The inspection occurred on June 4.

The restaurant remains open while the alert is in place.
