Possible Tornadoes, Severe Storms Pummel Pittsburgh Area
The cleanup has begun after possible tornadoes and severe storms rolled through Western Pennsylvania Wednesday night.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Cleanup is continuing Thursday after possible tornadoes, severe storms and flash flooding hit the Pittsburgh region on Wednesday night.
The heaviest damage occurred in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties, where multiple tornado warnings were issued as the storms moved through the area. No injuries were reported.
According to a National Weather Service preliminary report, a tornado occurred in Harrison City, Westmoreland County, at around 8:09 p.m. Tree damage was noted between Harrison City Export Road and Municipal Circle.

Crews from the weather service will inspect that and other sites Thursday to assess damage and determine whether tornadoes occurred.
Trees were reported down in Oakdale, Allegheny County. Flash flooding was reported along Commons Drive in Oakmont, Allegheny County.

At the height of the severe weather, more than 30,000 Duquesne Light customers were left without power. As of Thursday morning, about 8,000 residences were still waiting for service to be restored, according to the utility company's outage webpage.
When that will occur is uncertain, according to a message on the page.
"Crews are working to safely assess damage due to severe weather that has moved through the area," the message stated. "Once that is complete, more information will become available, including estimated times of restoration."
