Winter Storm Could Slam Into Pittsburgh

Weather agencies are monitoring a developing system that could bring snow to the region soon.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A potential major snowfall could storm into the Pittsburgh area over the weekend as the first significant winter storm of the season is possible for a large swath of the nation.

According to the National Weather Service, predictions vary at this point as to what will occur Saturday night into Sunday. The possibilities are heavy wet snow, nothing, rain and perhaps an inch of snow.

The weather service suggests people to continue to monitor the forecast over the next few days as its models zero in on the overall outcome.

State College-based AccuWeather meteorologists anticipate major travel disruptions on the roads and at the airports from the storm in the Northeast due to a wide variety of precipitation on the way for the weekend.

According to AccuWeather, highway departments and townships may want to review their plan of action ahead of the storm.
