Rain Finally Returns To Pittsburgh; Here's What's Next
It's a soggy start to the work week in Pittsburgh. Here's what to expect for the rest of the week.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A 21-day dry spell in Pittsburgh ended Sunday with rain that is continuing into Monday morning.
The dry stretch was the longest in the area since Oct. 2-23 1997, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday's rain is expected to end around noon, with below-average temperatures in the upper 60s today.

After the longest dry spell of the century, expect rainy conditions for much of the week. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop on Tuesday afternoon and extend into the evening. Rainfall amounts could total nearly an inch.
Showers and storms also are likely on Wednesday, bringing as much as a quarter of an inch of precipitation. There also is a 40 percent chance of rain on Thursday.

On the bright side, the poor air quality issues that plagued the region last week have significantly subsided. The air quality index for Pittsburgh as of Monday morning was 83, which is in the yellow moderate category. However, there may be risks for people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
