Ravenstahl Trailing Kinkead In 20th Legislative District Race

State Rep. Adam Ravenstahl squared off against challenger Emily Kinkead in Tuesday's primary.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Veteran state Rep. Adam Ravenstahl was trailing challengerk Emily Kinkead in the 20 Legislative District Democratic primary early Wednesday.

Kinead had 6,255 votes to Ravenstahl's 5,219 with 61.4 percent of district precincts reporting, according to the Allegheny County elections division.

The results are unofficial and all votes in the primary will not be counted for at least a week. Gov. Tom Wolf on Monday signed an executive order extending the deadline to receive mail-in ballots in Allegheny and five other counties to June 9.

Ravensthal, the brother of former Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, has been a state representative for a decade.

Kinkead, of Brighton Heights, is a criminal defense attorney. She ran on a progressive platform that saw several Democratic western Pennsylvania state representatives elected in recent years, including Summer Lee of Braddock and Sara Innamorato of Lawrenceville.

The 20th District includes portions of Pittsburgh's North Side, portions of Ross, West View, Avalon and Bellevue.
