Rodents Prompt Consumer Alert For Discount Store
Mice are living in the retailer's ceiling, inspectors say.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Family Dollar on Penn Avenue in Lawrenceville because of significant mice infestation.
Health inspectors who visited the store Friday found heavily accumulated mouse droppings and gnawed wood debris on top shelf candy in candy aisle; a freshly dead mouse on glue trap behind electric box panel, and an old dead mouse found on floor in corner by same panel.
Inspectors concluded that mice are running in ceilings, as evidenced by consistent accumulation of dropping and chewed wood along top of shelves that reside under the partition between the low and high areas of the ceiling, as well as on some shelves under beams in the high ceiling area. Accumulations are especially high on candy and paper towel shelves.
