Severe Storms To Follow Record Warmth In Pittsburgh
Summer-like temperatures will give way to strong to severe storms. Find out here when the heavy weather will arrive.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Expect record warmth today in Western Pennsylvania, with severe storms moving into the region this evening.
State College-based AccuWeather is forecasting a high temperature of 85 degrees today, which would break the current record of 83 set in 1910. The National Weather Service predicts a high of 84, which also would break the record.
Both AccuWeather and the weather service predict strong to severe storms developing in the area. The storms are expected to develop between 5 p.m.-10 p.m. from west to east. The weather service predicts as much as a half-inch of precipitation could occur, while AccuWeather believes three-quarters of an inch of rain could fall.

Expect cloudy skies, more rain and more seasonable temperatures on Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s.
Thunderstorms will develop ahead of a cold front this afternoon and evening and pose a severe threat. The main concern will be damaging wind though other hazards can't be ruled out.
