Snow, Dangerous Wind Chills Impacting Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA— Snow triggered numerous school delays in the Pittsburgh area on Tuesday, and dangerous wind chills are on the way.

Total snowfall accumulations for the Pittsburgh area are expected to reach 2 inches by 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from 10 p.m. Tuesday until noon on Wednesday.

Expect wind chill temperatures as low as 25 degrees below zero. The weather service warns that the dangerously cold wind chills could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

According to State College-based AccuWeather, more snow is on the way this week. Both AccuWeather and The Weather Channel predict 1 to 3 inches on Friday.

The frigid air will remain for the rest of the week, but relief should be on the way next week. The predicted highs are in the 40s to lower 50s.
