Snow Squall Warning Issued By National Weather Service For Western And Central PA
It's in effect until 1 p.m. Monday.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A snow squall warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for western and central Pennsylvania.
The areas of Southeastern Allegheny County, east central Washington County, western Westmoreland County, south central Armstrong County, and southwestern Indiana County are under warning until 12:45 p.m.
Just before noon, a dangerous snow squall was found along a line from over Murrysville to near East Washington, or along a line from eight miles northeast of Monroeville to six miles east of Washington, moving east at 35 mph.

The hazard includes intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds, leading to blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility, as well as wind gusts greater than 35 mph.
The warning was issued after meteorologists consulted with Doppler radar and webcams.

The agency says travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes.
Impacted locations include Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Bethel Park, Monroeville, Greensburg, McKeesport, Jeannette, Gastonville, Plum, West Mifflin, Baldwin, Murrysville, Wilkinsburg, Whitehall, South Park Township, Munhall, Jefferson Hills, North Versailles, Swissvale, and Pleasant Hills.
It includes Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 22 and 29 and between mile markers 50 and 57, as well as Interstate 376 between mile markers 78 and 84.
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 52 and 80.
The agency is advising motorists to slow down, and that rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are expected with this dangerous snow squall. Motorists should be alert for sudden whiteout conditions.
