Southwestern Pennsylvania Coronavirus Death Toll Now Tops 50

Here are the latest coronavirus case statistics for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Two more people have died from coronavirus in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Wednesday. The county's coronavirus death toll is now 26.

The number of coronavirus cases in Allegheny County stood at 904 as of 11 a.m. Wednesday. That's up from 893 on Tuesday and 876 on Monday.

One hundred and forty-six people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 142 on Tuesday and 134 on Monday.

With 231 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 156 in Beaver County, 143 in Butler County and 70 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 1,504 as of Wednesday. That's up from 1,486 on Tuesday and 1,445 on Monday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 52 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: Twenty-six in Allegheny County, 14 in Beaver County, six in Westmoreland County, five in Butler County and one in Washington County. That's up from 47 on Tuesday and 43 on Monday.

According to state Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the ninth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerene, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.

All Pennsylvania counties remain under a stay-at-home order through at least April 30. Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered schools closed through the remainder of the academic year, and all non-life-sustaining businesses are closed indefinitely.
