PITTSBURGH, PA — The revamp of the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback room now appears to be complete.

The team announced Monday that they had come to terms with journeyman Kyle Allen, who has played with the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders and Houston Texans. He is a seven-year NFL veteran.

Allen presumably will be the Steelers third-string quarterback, backing up Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

The Steelers announced over the weekend that Wilson, a Super Bowl winning quarterback with the Seattle Seahawks who played with the Denver Broncos last year, will be the starter next season. Fields, recently acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears, will be the backup.

The recent moves came after a complete rebuild of the quarterback position became necessary. Former starter Kenny Pickett was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he will be a backup. Former backup Mitch Turbisky was released and signed with the Buffalo Bills. Mason Rudolph, who led the Steelers to the playoffs last season, became a free agent and signed with the Tennessee Titans.
