Steelers' Plane Forced To Make Emergency Landing

The team's flight home from Las Vegas had to land in Kansas City early Monday.

KANSAS CITY, MO — The plane carrying the Steelers back to Pittsburgh after their victory over the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday night was forced to make an emergency landing at Kansas City International Airport early Monday.

The plane landed at around 4 a.m. WTAE-TV reported that the emergency landing was due to an oil pressure light that came on.

The Steelers issued a statement on X about the incident shortly after 6 a.m.

"Our team charter plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning on our way back to Pittsburgh following our game in Las Vegas," the message stated. "Everyone on the plane is safe, and we are making necessary plans to arrive back in Pittsburgh later today."

An airport spokesperson told KCTV in Kansas City that the aircraft had 182 passengers and crew on board. The plane landed safely and was able to taxi to a gate, where it is being inspected.

KMBC-TV in Kansas City reported that a replacement plane will arrive at 9:30 a.m. to take the Steelers back to Pittsburgh.

Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward posted on X about the emergency landing. He joked about it being due to a roughing the passer call against safety Minkah Fitzpatrick during Sunday's game.
