Twelve New Coronavirus Deaths In Allegheny County

Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Coronavirus now has claimed the lives of 139 people in Allegheny County, the county health department announced Wednesday. That's up from 127 on Tuesday and 123 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus cases climbed to 1,545, up from 1,526 on Tuesday and 1,511 on Monday.

Two hundred and eighty-five people have been hospitalized in the county during the outbreak, up from 280 on Tuesday and 274 on Monday. With 493 confirmed cases in Beaver County, 419 in Westmoreland County, 198 in Butler County and 126 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to 2,781. That's up from 2,754 on Tuesday and 2,738 on Monday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have now been been 257 coronavirus deaths
thus far in the five-county region: One hundred and thirty-nine in Allegheny County, 78 in Beaver County, 30 in Westmoreland County, six in Butler County and four in Washington County.

With the outbreak slowing throughout the region, Gov. Tom Wolf has announced that all of southwestern Pennsylvania can begin reopening on May 15, with the exception of Beaver County.
