Two Pittsburgh Teens Wounded In Thanksgiving Night Shooting

The gunfire also damaged a nearby library, as violence failed to take a holiday in Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two juveniles were wounded in a barrage of gunfire in the city's Sheraden neighborhood Thursday night.

Police responded to a 25-round ShotSpotter alert in the 700 block of Sherwood Avenue at around 8:40 p.m, Pittsburgh public safety officials said.

Officers found one teen male victim with gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and leg. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The second victim was struck in the ribs and arm and also was reported to be in critical condition.

Police applied tourniquets to both victims before medics arrived.

The gunfire also struck the Shearden Library, damaging the building's gas meter. The gas had to be shut off; it's unclear whether the library will be open on Friday.

Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit are investigating. No arrests have been made.
