Veteran Pittsburgh Singer-Songwriter Dies
For decades, Western Pennsylvanians listened to his albums and watched him perform.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Bob Corbin, a staple of Western Pennsylvania's country music scene for decades, has died. Corbin and musical partner Dave Hanner were part of the Corbin Hanner Band and then later recorded and performed as Corbin/Hanner.
According to AllMusic.com, Corbin met Hanner in high school and they began writing songs together. In college, they formed the rock band Gravel and began performing through Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
In 1979, Gravel added three new members, became the Corbin/Hanner Band, and started focusing on a country-rock sound. Over the next two years, the band scored four hits, including "Time Has Treated You Well," and recorded two albums for the Alfa label. But after touring through 1984, Corbin and Hanner decided a hiatus was in order and parted ways.

"There are so many words to describe Bob, but to me the most accurate is `authentic,'” Jimmy Roach, for years a morning show host on Pittsburgh country music station Y108, stated in a Facebook post.
"The Corbin/Hanner Band and their music was so honest, so real, so good. In tribute to Bob, spend some time on YouTube and relive the gifts that have been left for us."
