VP Kamala Harris Visits Pittsburgh To Tout Clean Water Funding
Vice president Kamala Harris visited Pittsburgh Tuesday to announce millions in federal funding for clean water infrastructure in PA.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Vice President Kamala Harris was in Pittsburgh Tuesday to announce $5.8 billion in federal funding nationwide for clean water infrastructure.
Harris and Environmental Protection Agency administrator Michael Regan said at the Kingsley Community Center that Pennsylvania will get about $200 million of that amount.
According to the White House, more than two million people in America live without running water, tens of millions more lack access to safe and reliable drinking water and sanitation, and more than nine million homes, day care centers, and businesses receive their water through a toxic lead pipe.

The funding being provided hopes to correct decades of inequitable infrastructure development and under-investment, lack of access to clean water disproportionately affects low-income and underserved communities.
