Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Portions Of Western PA

PITTSBURGH, PA — For anyone traveling early for Thanksgiving and headed east of the city, be aware the weather could be treacherous Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 4 a.m. until noon Tuesday in the higher elevations of Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties. Freezing rain is expected, with total ice accumulations are possible, as are strong downslope winds with gusts as high as 50 mph.
The weather service warns that difficult travel conditions are possible and that gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

In the Pittsburgh metro area, expect cloudy conditions today and tonight. Rain will move in after 7 a.m. Tuesday, as will breezy conditions with gusts as high as 36 mph. Precipitation amounts could total an inch on Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday.
Weather conditions will calm Wednesday, although there will be a slight chance of rain before 1 p.m. Expect a high temperature of around 47 degrees.
