WTAE-TV Hires Pittsburgh Native As New Westmoreland County Reporter

A reporter is coming home to fill a sizeable role in WTAE-TV's news coverage.

PITTSBURGH, PA — WTAE-TV has hired Jefferson Hills native Ava Rash as the station's new Westmoreland County. She replaces Jim Madalinsky, who left the station in May and is now the Allegheny County Police Department's public information officer.

Rash announced her hiring on social media.

"This has been a dream of mine since I was little, and I’m so grateful for everyone who has believed in me," she stated in a Facebook post.

"Surprisingly, I can’t even put into words how much this opportunity means to me. Telling stories has always been my passion, and I’m thrilled to be doing it in my hometown."

Rash most recently worked as a morning on-air reporter at WCHS-TV in Charleston, WV.

She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where she graduated with honors with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in entrepreeurship.
