Instead of bad storms Thursday, Pittsburgh-area residents got a treat for the eyes: puffy Mammatus clouds and a striking sunset.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Instead of bad storms Thursday, Pittsburgh-area residents got a treat for the eyes: puffy Mammatus clouds and a striking sunset.
These clouds are distinct because they almost appear to have udders on the underside. Mammatus clouds often appear before, during, or after a storm according to EarthSky.
