A Sinner’s Lent Day 4: The Walking Dead is Bad?
My 'Catholic Guilt' might be rising to new levels.
I just converted to Catholicism a few years ago ( I know, not the most popular religion at the moment, but it works for me). And prior to converting, I hadn't heard much about "Catholic guilt" (I was a "heathen protestant" my entire life).
I am understanding the guilt thing now. For sure.
I went to a new parish on Sunday because it was more convenient, and the priest was talking about reality TV shows. Well, he started out with a video regarding Catholic charities. I was really tired, and I think I may have zoned out a tad, and I'm not sure how he got from asking for money to TV shows... but he got there.

Anyway, my ears kind of perked up when he said "The Walking Dead" - I don't watch it, but I know a lot of people who like it. He said that there are people who "live" for pop culture - The Walking Dead, the Kardashians, the way that we should "live" for Jesus.
That line stuck with me. When we get too sucked up in a world of fantasy, we lose touch with reality? We don’t pay as much attention to the people who may need our help, because we’re more concerned with the most recent person voted off The Bachelor? (I will say, with the exception of my sisters, most women I know who watch the Bachelor are highly unappealing, in my opinion)…so he may really be on to something there.

But should we feel guilty for liking a certain TV show? I honestly don’t watch TV much, this doesn’t really apply to me that much. But I surely check out Perezhilton.com every day, and I read People religi.... often (well played, priest), but does that make me bad?
I hope not. I don't think I can handle any more guilt this Lent.
